these are our projects

BEAR

BEAR began as a duet. we made it a long time ago, as we were getting to know each other. we wanted to know what we could and couldn’t bear about one another. as we asked questions of ourselves, we asked them of each other as well. will you hold me up. how much of me can you handle.

am I enough. it is about effort. are we working hard enough. is there more we could be doing. does the work we do here, mean anything for the work we want to do out there. how can we hold or support those who need it more than we do.

BEAR began as a duet and is the process of becoming something new.

“ — a wildly energetic, exhausting display of physicality, strength and duality performed mostly in unison. It [Bear] explored the evolution of their new dance relationship — the two have never worked together before — with humor, recklessness and combativeness. By the end, their gasps for air were audible, their shirts wet, but the electric connection they shared remained visible and vibrant.” - Carrie Seidman, Sarasota Herald-Tribune

learn how to bake bread. learn how to juggle. learn how to love again. Learn how to fall over. learn how to fill the cracks of a broken something with gold, and mend. when everything feels like ending, learn how to keep going. this was made to fall apart. this is planned obsolescence.

take small bites.

we want to make lots of things. many of them are terrible. take small bites is an ongoing library of potential performance ideas, images, gestures and thoughts. it is a landing place for all that doesn’t yet have a home. when things are hard to stomach…
